My poor little Mara.We had a very eventful weekend with Fight Night/pizza and 4th of July Slip and Bleed appearances. Tuesday, she started having some red spots, some of which became bumps and since they looked worse throughout the day... daycare asked us to come get her.
I took her to the doctor later that afternoon, thinking she had a heat rash or an allergy to someone's detergent, perfume or bug spray.
Turns out, little Mara has some sores inside her mouth and these speckles all over, all signs of Hand Foot and Mouth disease.
It's a viral infection that's spread through saliva, sneezing, pooping, etc... something easily passed around daycare. There isn't anything we can do for her... just have to wait until she recovers.
She hasn't seemed overly upset or feverish (which means she can go to daycare with her doctor's note). The bumps didn't look this bad/angry yesterday, though.
It's uncommon for the illness to show in adults, but it's possible. Unfortunately, she was most contagious before the spots/bumps appeared, and there were bunches of people loving on her this weekend.
At least the symptoms for adults are minor. Nothing like poor Mara specklebottom.
She only has a few very faint red spots on her feet (on the heel):
I haven't noticed any on her hands and there were only a few sores in her mouth. Hopefully, she'll be on the mend soon!

Poor Mara Belle!!! Thankfully she isn't suffering uncomfortably, and it's a double blessing that she has the magic of Blue Bunny to aid her into lala land with its peaceful solitude. :D
